This Charlestown local hang out becomes most people's favorite winter spot when the weather turns cold. The Warren Tavern is one of the oldest restaurants and bars in the city of Boston, and proudly tout themselves as a meeting place for the Patriots during the Revolution. The Warren Tavern not only has a happening social scene filled with 20 and 30 somethings, but the food on the menu is a comfort seekers dream. Creamy chowder, french onion soup, huge burgers that are the talk of the town, and a variety of salads stock the menu. One of the best places to visit in this part of the city! Go on Wednesday nights, because Greg the bartender has to be one of the best and funniest in Boston. Built circa 1780.

We know you and your dating habits. You and your honey sit upright in some booth picking at half-decent filet mignon while the sound system dribbles soft pop. We know where you live, and make no mistake, we will forcibly drag you and your s.o. to Tangierino. This Moroccan restaurant is beyond romantic. Lounge on a low scarlet cushion in dim, curtained rooms as haunting music wafts through the brocade and filigree. Appetizers include Andalusian calamari ($9) and harira, a tomato-cilantro soup ($6); for your main course, try seven-vegetable couscous ($17) or harissa-seared salmon filet ($22). Perhaps best of all, Tangierino is the only place in smoke-free Boston where you can smoke a hookah at dinner (without renting a room, like at Mantra). It may be far from the Square, but believe us: you'll be rocking the casbah, so to speak, in no time.

Paolo's has changed management recently, but this has not dented the reputation at all. Many locals frequent this restaurant and sing its praises. They keep coming back to enjoy this cozy, dimly lit and devastatingly romatic atmosphere. Small tables, candlelight, and dark walnut accents on brick walls give an authentic feel and are sure to impress anyone you bring here. The chef has a wood-fired brick oven to bake amazing pizzas (starting at $10), and the menu boasts Italian delicacies such as Scallops Risotto at $24. Great food and service! A little pricey but definitely worth it. The fig salad with pistachios, goat chease and marsala vinaigrette is mouth-watering, and I hear the desserts are to die for! The perfect elegant location to host your private function, such as a wine tasting, rehearsal dinner, anniversary, birthday and more.

Spacious cafe in a style reminiscent of Carberry's in Cambridge. A generous menu of yummy sandwiches will satisfy your need to nosh, as well as a beer and wine. Located in a plaza-type brick building on Chelsea Street off of New Rutherford Ave, you might miss it on your way into Charlestown. The pier is right behind the building, and Cold Stone Creamery next door. This is perfect for an afternoon experience, especially since it closes by 7pm in the winter. Wifi available.
