This Charlestown local hang out becomes most people's favorite winter spot when the weather turns cold. The Warren Tavern is one of the oldest restaurants and bars in the city of Boston, and proudly tout themselves as a meeting place for the Patriots during the Revolution. The Warren Tavern not only has a happening social scene filled with 20 and 30 somethings, but the food on the menu is a comfort seekers dream. Creamy chowder, french onion soup, huge burgers that are the talk of the town, and a variety of salads stock the menu. One of the best places to visit in this part of the city! Go on Wednesday nights, because Greg the bartender has to be one of the best and funniest in Boston. Built circa 1780.

Ironside's Grille is a great neighborhood bar and resturant right off the Navy yard in Charlestown. Not only a great place to come and sit inside or out for lunch or dinner, it is a great meeting place and watering hole as well. Reputed to have one of the best bar menus in Boston, be sure to nail some pub grub and catch a Red Sox game! Check out the Margarita Grilled Pizza for $12.

Olive's is celebrity chef Todd English's first restaurant and the Charlestown institution stands proud and English's vast empire continues to expand. As his first foray into fine dining, Olive's is tasteful and funky, flavorful and fun. This is a great place to celebrate something special or toast to someone. Olive's accepts all major credit cards and has valet parking. It is an ornate dining room where you receive world class service and can choose from a range of delicious culinary offerings. House specilaties include the tagliatelle with truffle bolognese, and the steak frites with olives signature fries.
Right across the street from Olive's, you'll find small, romantic City Square Park with a fish fountain and benches. This park was built as a memorial to Charlestown residents who served in WWII.

Archetypal neighborhood bar with a ton of atmosphere and character, nicknamed 'Sully's'. Locals drop in for a drink, and everyone is very friendly. If the drunk old-timer likes you, he'll buy you a beer and sing old fashioned tunes while others join in. You could go straight from work and feel comfortable or after a soffball game and not feel out of place. Very casual, not at all trendy, and great jukebox. Bonus: Trivia Nights on Wednesdays and Karaoke night on Thursdays.

This is a friendly little hole in the wall that's set in practically in the middle of nowhere. Right next to an industrial area and across from Charlestown Commerce Center, this is kind of a shame, since outside you can smell the pollution belching from the smokestacks across the street. However, once you step inside, you find a great little pizza and sub joint that's take-out/delivery only. There are no tables, but customers say that they are always greeted with a smile and they keep coming back for their favorites, and everybody seems to have something that they love the best. The wing ding dinners are reported to be excellent! The grilled chicken ceasar salad is priced at $6.50, pizza starts at $9.00 a pie, spicy fries are $3.00., and homemade brownies are only 75 cents. Jenny's also supports several local youth organizations, and has been an active part of the Charlestown community for over 40 years.

This striking three-story octagonal building with a clocktower was completed in 1854 to keep track of the workforce. Navy Yard employees were mustered and given daily work assignments. One of Boston's Naval treasures.

Spacious cafe in a style reminiscent of Carberry's in Cambridge. A generous menu of yummy sandwiches will satisfy your need to nosh, as well as a beer and wine. Located in a plaza-type brick building on Chelsea Street off of New Rutherford Ave, you might miss it on your way into Charlestown. The pier is right behind the building, and Cold Stone Creamery next door. This is perfect for an afternoon experience, especially since it closes by 7pm in the winter. Wifi available.
