Christy's looks like your typical neighborhood joint with its tiny quaint tables and menus on the walls. Don't let this fool you into thinking that you can't fall in love with it. I can picture walking into this place from the cold, windows fogged up on the inside with warm steam and enjoying a simple, but unique, Vidalia Chicken wrap at $6.99. Other award winning selections to the menu make this worth the trip, such as the Texana pizza topped with grilled steak priced at $9.49 for a small. Salads start at $4.99, and the breakfast omelets look absolutely delish. They also have good coffee! Catering is also available. Cash only for now, and the prices are very reasonable. By the end of the year, the owner plans to install a credit card machine.

This Charlestown local hang out becomes most people's favorite winter spot when the weather turns cold. The Warren Tavern is one of the oldest restaurants and bars in the city of Boston, and proudly tout themselves as a meeting place for the Patriots during the Revolution. The Warren Tavern not only has a happening social scene filled with 20 and 30 somethings, but the food on the menu is a comfort seekers dream. Creamy chowder, french onion soup, huge burgers that are the talk of the town, and a variety of salads stock the menu. One of the best places to visit in this part of the city! Go on Wednesday nights, because Greg the bartender has to be one of the best and funniest in Boston. Built circa 1780.

This is where the locals love to shop, and some of them call it Beastmaster. It's not huge or pretty, so don't expect it to be as nice as Whole Foods. Maybe that's part of its charm, because this is a home-grown local chain. You'll either love it or you'll hate it. No loyalty card available, but that's because they keep their prices low all of the time, and the sales are really excellent. In fact, it even smells like bargains. It's clean and will get the job done, but the real bonus is that they deliver!

Cramped neighborhood market with all the things you absolutely need at a moment's notice. The shelves are crammed with cans and boxes of just about everything. The area around here gets a little rougher looking, and this is the sort of place you'll find just about anywhere in metro Boston. It's no gourmet shop with specialty cheese, but you'll get your bread and milk and a few Goya products to boot.
